The remix of ‘Stateside’ by PinkPantheress with Zara Larsson has become one of the biggest hits of the moment. Now, the song rises to global number 1 on Spotify, unseating ‘DTMF’ by Bad Bunny, after having climbed to number 2 in recent days.
‘Stateside’ is only the fourth female duet to reach Spotify’s global number 1. Previously achieved by ‘WAP’ by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion (2020), ‘Rain on Me’ by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande (2020) and ‘TQG’ by Shakira and Karol G (2023).
The remix of ‘Stateside’, released on the reissue of PinkPantheress’ album, ‘Fancy Some More?’, has been known since October 2025, but the premiere of its colorful video clip has propelled it up the charts. The original version of ‘Stateside’ was released in April of last year.
Both are obviously different. While the original version of ‘Stateside’ opted for a big beat and UK garage sound, the remix with Zara Larsson transforms the song into an electro-disco production that evokes the bloghouse era of the 2000s.
The number 1 of ‘Stateside’ revitalizes a global top 10 reluctant to novelty, as demonstrated by the current popularity of relatively old songs such as ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ by Taylor Swift, ‘End of Beginning’ by Djo, ‘Man I Need’ by Olivia Dean or all of Bad Bunny. The only real novelty within Spotify’s global top 10 is Bruno Mars’ bolero, apart from ‘Stateside’.
As for the official charts, ‘Stateside’ is top 3 in the United Kingdom and top 13 in the United States, although the first country does not credit Larsson, but rather the original song, strangely, and the second does. The topic has entered lists in many other countries, but not in Spain.
