The drama within Jane’s Addiction scale to the courts.
After the lawsuit filed by Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins against Perry Farrell for aggression, negligence and contract rupture, the vocalist has responded with a contrademanda presented this July 16 in the Superior Court of the Los Angeles County.
Farrell accuses his former companions of carrying out a “prolonged harassment campaign”, which included sabotages during concerts by touching excessive volume to prevent him from singing. The trigger, according to the lawsuit, was the concert of September 13 in Boston, where a staging confrontation ended with Farrell pushing Navarro. The incident resulted in the cancellation of the band’s meeting tour, supposedly without Farrell’s consent.
The lawsuit also includes allegations of Backstage aggression against Farrell and his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, who appears as a co-demanding next to the Wilton’s Hilton Inc. touring company. Both claim physical, emotional and economic damage.
From the other side, Navarro’s lawyer, Avery and Perkins described Farrell’s version as “revisionist history” and cited publications of Etty Farrell herself recognizing the aggression. The conflict, far from going out, continues to generate headlines while the bands of the band see any possible reconciliation away.
