Perry Archangelo Bamonte, guitarist and keyboardist of The Cure, dies

Not everything is good news at Christmas and, while we toasted our loved ones, we learned the sad news of the death of the former member of The Cure Perry Archangelo Bamonte at 65 years of age.

“Calm, intense, intuitive, steady and tremendously creative, ‘Teddy’ was a warm and vital part of The Cure’s story.” These were the heartfelt words shared by the British group in a brief statement, although the causes of the musician’s death were not revealed beyond the fact that he suffered ‘a brief illness’.

Perry Archangelo Bamonte became a titular member of The Cure in 1990, playing guitar, six-string bass, and keyboard on the albums “Wish”, “Wild Mood Swings”, “Bloodflowers”, “Acoustic Hits” and “The Cure”in addition to performing more than 400 concerts throughout his fourteen years of intense collaboration with Robert Smith.

He later rejoined the band again in 2022, offering almost a hundred concerts at a time in which the group proved to be in top shape on stage and which culminated with the concert «The Show Of A Lost World» in London on November 1, 2024.

The Cure is one of the main headliners of the next Primavera Sound which will also feature performances by Doja Cat, The xx, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Addison Rae and My Bloody Valentine.
