‘Maps’ of Amaia: a visual dialogue between good and evil

From the first image, a lateral traveling that seems taken from a Wes Anderson movie, the ‘Map’ video clip (from the album ‘if I open my eyes is not real’, our album of the week) makes it clear what its axis will be Thematic: Duality between opposites. This is: a waiting room of a psychotherapy clinic adorned with a painting that looks like the expression of a psychokiller’s mind.

This dialectic articulates the entire clip of the song in which Amaia addresses her mother. From the point of view of the staging, it can be observed through resources such as the split screen, the use of mirrors (a classic in this type of allegories), light contrast and photographic texture between Amaia Buena And the bad Amaia, the different dynamism that is printed to the scenes of one and the other through assembly and camera work …

As for the content, the video collects the traditional iconography, in its naive slope, of the double malignant: dark clothing, demonic eyebrows and horns and antisocial rhetoric a little to the “being bad! Good night colleagues. ” A visual dialogue between the “good” and “evil”, between the external image as social construction and the interior demons as a personal conflict, which is in tune with the speech of the song and can be transferred to Amaia’s own music: Ráfagas of strobe light flashing in a sweet and peaceful sunset.
