Manchester United pays tribute to Mani (The Stone Roses, Primal Scream)

He Manchester United Football Clubof whom the musician was a follower, has paid tribute in his stadium to Gary “Mani” Mounfieldbassist of The Stone Roses and of Primal Screamrecently deceased.

This weekend, the fans and even the Manchester United Football Club team paid tribute to Gary Mounfield, better known as Mani, one of the legends of British music of recent decades and an indispensable part of The Stone Roses and also of Primal Scream. Recently deceased at the age of sixty-three, Mani has had his tribute both on the football field and on the team’s social networks.

“Manchester United expresses its deep sadness at the death of Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, the beloved bassist of The Stone Roses, who has died at the age of sixty-three. A fan of the team and friend of the club, his music will continue to play on every match day at Old Trafford and especially ‘This Is The One’, which will accompany the team on its way through the tunnel.”

On Monday, in a match against Everton, the team’s supporters – specifically those called The Red Army – also displayed a large banner paying tribute to the bassist. Later, tribute was paid to him on the field by playing “I Wanna Be Adored” and “This Is The One” at full volume over the stadium speakers.
