Love of Lesbian has reported that it will not participate in any festival linked to the Pro-Israelí KKR investor. “From Love of Lesbian we want to share with you that we have made the decision to get rid of the festivals in which the KKR company has shareholding,” says the text that has been disseminated in the TVE Mañaneros 360 program. As a consequence of this decision, Love of Lesbian cancels his performance at the Interstellar Festival of Seville of 2026.
“This decision is the result of a series of internal debates that have required time,” explains the band led by Santi Balmes. «We are not a group that makes impulsive decisions; We always try to build a common, honest and shared response. And we do not lie: it is not always easy since we are plural, imperfect and with as many doubts and fears as any other ».
Love of Lesbian, who has asked for the freedom of Palestine, and condemned the genocide by naming its perpetrator, Benjamin Netanhyuhu, in festivals such as Cruïlla, adds: «We have needed time and many conversations to make this decision that entails consequences that sometimes do not see themselves with the naked eye. In some past concerts we had expressed our position on this genocide of the Palestinian people, from the speaker provided by the stage, trying to be a small Trojan horse from within. But now the time has come to take the next step. This decision, inevitably, renounces some festivals with which we already had advanced conversations by 2026, but we believe that coherence with what we think and feel right now must prevail.
“Incidentally, we want to clarify that we have always felt very well treated by these festivals,” says the band. “Actually, that fantastic relationship forged over the years has made our decision even more difficult because we know the human teams behind them and that they have nothing to do with this situation.”
Love of Lesbian joins, from Spain, to the cultural boycott against Israel in protest of the genocide in Gaza and to press the Israeli government to stop the invasion. On international scale, Björk and Paramore, as well as Hayley Williams alone, have joined the non -genocide campaign, which urges artists to block their music on all Israeli musical platforms and has the support of some 400 artists. Recently, Massive Attack has joined this initiative and, in parallel, he has announced that he has asked Universal to withdraw all his Spotify music due to the military ties of the Swedish company.
