Kim Petras brings the 2010s back in the brute ‘Freak It’

Did you miss Kesha’s sound in the era of ‘Warrior’? Nicki Minaj’s in ‘Starships’ or ‘Pound the Alarm’? A little Skrillex’s, too? In other words, the thunderous vibes of that Pop-EDM that dominated the 2010s radio forms? Kim Petras brings two cups.

‘Freak it’ recreates the pop style of the time, but offers it evolved thanks to the expansive production that Petras has devised with its producers of trust Margo XS, Frost Children and Nightfeeling. It is the song of the day for Monday.

‘Freak It’ is one of those productions that stun, and that seems to be the goal of electro synthesizers present in the recording and engulfed the song as a hungry monster. FERD SYNTHES reminiscent of Miss Kittin electroclash, but also Kesha and Pitbull dance (together and separately), Skrillex Brostep and Hyperpop from Sophie or Charli XCX.

The piano piano from ‘Freak It’ is another remarkable nuance of the song, but Petras balances the proposal thanks to its melodic ability and delivers a demolishing pre-stribe like the ones you know how to write. “Touch that, Bring it All Back / Lil ‘Eurotrash and It’s All For Me / You Got It All and I Want on Piece,” sings with a mixture of euphoria and despair.

‘Freak It’ is an invitation to release without inhibitions. That is the essence of the expression that gives title to the song: Petras wants everything -with heels, in thong, either in his concert or alone in your house -that the party is heard “from the luxury attic to the basement.” ‘Freak it’ is not suitable for neighbors.
