Kanye West has fulfilled the worst omens of his fans and has confirmed that his apology letter was the promotional prelude to his next album. I didn’t see it coming.
Just two days after publishing a heartfelt apology in a paid ad in the Wall Street Journal, Ye has announced that his album ‘Bully’ will be released on March 20, Rolling Stone confirms. Its launch is accompanied by a distribution agreement with the independent company gamma, so Kanye will hardly be able to abort it if he so decides. Physical editions of the album are surely being prepared, not just digital ones.
In the recent letter, which appeared to be written by a lawyer, Ye apologized to Jews and African Americans for the attacks directed against both communities for years on social networks and the media, and explained that his bipolar disorder had led him to act impulsively and destructively.
West denied that the publication of his letter responded to commercial interests, the day after its appearance in the American newspaper. In statements collected by Variety, West recalled that he was one of the most successful artists of 2025 on Spotify: «This, for me, as the letter demonstrates, has nothing to do with reactivating my commercial value. It is because these feelings of regret weighed enormously on my heart and burdened my spirit. I once again owe a huge apology for everything I said that especially hurt the Jewish and black communities. Everything went too far. I look at the ruins of that episode and realize that that is not the person I am.
“As a public figure,” the rapper noted, “there are many people who follow and listen to my every word. It is important that they understand and understand which side of the story I want to be on, and that is the side of love and positivity.
‘Bully’ will address Ye’s recent controversies, according to Rolling Stone. But any good intention that could be attributed to the letter is nullified the moment it is revealed to be a promotional strategy and an attempt at image-washing. Perhaps it was naive to expect less.
