Justin Bieber has been announced among the artists who will perform at the next GRAMMY gala, which takes place this Sunday, February 1. Bieber, who is up for Record of the Year for ‘SWAG’ and has a total of four nominations, has not performed at the GRAMMYs since 2022.
That was a bittersweet gala for Bieber. Although he opened the ceremony with a performance of ‘Peaches’ on the piano, the artist did not win a single GRAMMY of the eight to which he aspired, including the same category for which he is competing this Sunday, Album of the Year, for ‘Justice’ (2021), an album that, in truth, cannot be counted among the best of his career.
Bieber’s relationship with the GRAMMYs has never been especially warm: he has only won two awards out of the 23 to which he has aspired, and both for collaborations, for ‘Where Are Ü Now’ (Best Electronic/Pop Recording) and ‘10,000 Hours’ (Best Country Duo). Of course, there are more than ABBA, Björk or the Beach Boys can count. Bieber’s nominations total 27 this year. Will their victories also increase?
Bieber’s performance will be one of the most anticipated of the night, along with those of already confirmed artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, Clipse or Lola Young. Two first-time stars, Addison Rae and KATSEYE, will take the GRAMMY stage for the first time.
On the other hand, the GRAMMY organization has revealed the lineup of artists who will perform during the show prior to the official ceremony. There we will see Zara Larsson -nominated for ‘Midnight Sun’-, Grace Potter, Israel Houghton, Lila Iké, Maggie Rose and Trombone Shorty, among others.
Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar are favorites at this Sunday’s GRAMMY gala. Will an unexpected Leon Thomas-type name surprise?
