Recently Julio Iglesias has been accused of sexual assault by a series of women, who have reported various cases in a series of special reports carried out for 3 years by El Diario. Iglesias denied the accusations and later the Prosecutor’s Office filed the case due to “lack of powers.”
Now the singer is going on the offensive and has filed a conciliation lawsuit against Yolanda Díaz, vice president of the Government, for the comments that the politician made on social networks and in a television interview.
As reported by El País, Iglesias’ lawyers believe that there have been “injurious” statements by the leader of Sumar, with which she directly attributed to her client the status of “sexual abuser”, a regime of “slavery” and a “power structure based on permanent aggression.”
The singer asks Yolanda Díaz to recant, to recognize “the damage caused” and to “compensate him with the amount at which the damages caused are prudently set based on the dissemination achieved by the insulting and slanderous behavior.” This is the necessary preliminary step to be able to later file a complaint for slander or libel.
One of the messages they denounce was left on Bluesky by Yolanda Díaz on January 13: «Chilling testimonies from Julio Iglesias’ former workers. Sexual abuse and a situation of slavery with a power structure based on permanent aggression. “Thank you to the brave women and the journalists of eldiario.es for denouncing it.”
