Given the complaints presented at the National Court by two women who accuse Julio Iglesias of having sexually assaulted and abused them while they worked as live-in employees in two of the singer’s mansions in the Caribbean, Julio Iglesias has broken his silence by issuing a statement on social networks in which he categorically denies the facts.
The singer writes: «With deep regret, I respond to the accusations made by two people who previously worked in my house. I deny having abused, coerced or disrespected any woman. These accusations are absolutely false and cause me great sadness. “I have never felt such evil, but I still have the strength to let people know the whole truth and to defend my dignity in the face of such a serious grievance.”
At the end of his message, Iglesias thanks the support of those who have “sent him messages of affection and loyalty” during the last few days, indicating that he has felt “great comfort” with them.
Iglesias could face, if the National Court admits the complaints to be processed, an investigation for up to six crimes of trafficking, criminal group, several sexual crimes, injuries and crimes against workers’ rights, according to information from eldiario.es.
The singer is accused of having attacked, abused and humiliated two former employees during his stay in his homes in the Caribbean between 2021 and 2022. In the investigation by eldiario.es and Univisión, sexual relations under coercion and humiliation are reported and documents are shown that would show that Iglesias forced his workers to carry out HIV or chlamydia tests and gynecological check-ups after being hired.
