‘For now,’ the debutant Joseluis is our album of the week. They were already the song of the day the main singles of the album, ‘handsome’ and ‘Fortuna’, and it is time to rescue one of the tracks that have brows the whole. It’s about ‘gravity’.
There have been many recordings throughout the history of pop that have used string instruments to portray a “fall”, especially when “fail” in English is the verb used to “fall in love.” This could be one of them, although it is not the most explicit of the album in terms of who is directed. In fact, it is one of the most ambiguous and therefore one of the most beautiful. “If I do, it’s not for you, it’s for me,” says the lyrics. And what does Joseluis do on this subject? Decide to jump, challenge “gravity” … or quite the opposite.
In addition to the spectacular strings that appear in a couple of moments of the recording, two details that seem more harmless: the banjo that advances awkwardly as their intention, and the autocorous evenings, shouting, which had also marked ‘fortune’.
If in ‘Fortuna’ those brillids in the background very subtly hid the title of the length, ‘For now forever’, here they serve to highlight the key stanza of the theme: «I want to try the ground, to see if it is true / does not hurt the fall, gravity hurts». Joseluis wonders why airplanes fall like “the concorde”, but not; He talks about being an “angel in heaven”; It seems to be located on the edge of a cornice or a cliff … but always without daring to take the step. Will the fall hurt? Will you float? “For now I think I’m going to jump,” he concludes without taking off the doubt, before this string slap shines again.
