Johnny Greenwoodguitarist of Radiohead and The Smile, collaborate again with Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express facing a new job.

Jonny Greenwood, Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express announce album “Ranjha”new project that will be published on May 8 via World Circuit and BMG. The album will be the continuation of “Junun” (15), the celebrated project that united Sufi music, Rajasthani folk and alternative rock.

Recorded at Greenwood studio in Oxfordshire and produced by Sam Petts-Daviesthe album brings together more than twenty musicians and has already previewed its main song, “Ranjha.” Accompanied by a video clip directed by Ian Patrick.

The project once again explores the dialogue between different musical traditions, inspired by Ben Tzur’s connection with qawwali devotional music and the North Indian folk scene.

The group’s previous work also gave rise to the documentary “Junun” (15), directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and which portrayed the recording sessions at Mehrangarh Fort, in Jodhpur.

With his new album, “Ranjha”the formation resumes that collaboration a decade later with new songs and a more studio-focused production.
