James Chambers, known artistically as Jimmy Cliff, has died at the age of eighty-one in Kingston (Jamaica). The cause of death was complications that resulted in pneumonia.

Cliff was one of the great Jamaican icons, working not only as a musician and singer, but also as a producer or actor. His career spanned several periods, without stopping also publishing live shows from various stages in recent years.

Great hits like “You Can Get It If You Really Want”, “Many Rivers to Cross”, “Sittin’ in Limbo”, “I Can See Clearly Now” or “Reggae Night” remain for eternity, and for the film “The Harder They Come” (72), without a doubt one of the great titles in which the reality of the streets of Jamaica has been shown. In his latest albums, “Rebirth” (12) and “Refugees” (22), worked with artists such as Tim Armstrong (Rancid) or Wyclef Jean, performing their own songs or versions of artists like The Clash or Rancid themselves.
