Jack White, forced to clarify his words about Taylor Swift

Jack White is fed up with clickbait culture. This was made known in a statement, now deleted, in which he clarified his latest statements about Taylor Swift and her way of writing. He told The Guardian that he finds it “a bit boring writing about myself.” The public, of course, interpreted it as calling Swift boring.

«Taylor Swift’s way of writing about everything that has to do with her public breakups has become very popular, which I don’t find very interesting. “I think it’s a bit boring for me to write about myself,” White told The Guardian. “If it’s something really painful, I’m not going to put this important, painful thing that I went through out there for some idiot on the Internet to walk all over it,” he concluded, explaining that he prefers to write from a character’s perspective.

Of course, his words were misinterpreted. “I didn’t say Taylor’s music is boring or whatever the clickbait is trying to drag,” his statement began. While explaining that he simply gave his opinion on how he liked to write, with “imaginary characters” seeming more interesting than reality, White made it clear that it was not a criticism of Swift: “I’m very happy that she has been successful with so many music lovers in her own way.”

“Just because I say I have a way of doing things doesn’t mean I think everyone has to do it the same way. “They should do what works for them,” the statement read. Jack White ended by assuring that the fact that his words have been taken out of context has made him “less and less eager to do interviews” at a time when there is a “massive demand for clickbait and content.”
