The new album by the American hemlocke springs is achieving excellent reviews after the viral waves it has achieved on the networks since 2022, especially through ‘girlfriend’. Eighties pop continues to be a reference in a varied album, which is also allowing comparisons with people like Kate Bush or Fleetwood Mac. ‘the apple tree under the sea’ will be our Record of the Week.
Presented by intriguing singles like ‘wwww-w’ -with a certain influence from Michael Jackson- or the one divided into parts ‘head, shoulders, knees and ankles’, a huge asset was saved for this Friday, release day. The album closes with the excellent ‘be the girl!’, our Song of the Day today.
The 5 and a half minute production begins reflective and epic and then surrenders unapologetically to the dance floor of a Robyn. Hemlocke Springs explains that she doesn’t feel alone “dancing in her room” although “little thoughts come in when I think of you.”
Truly, ‘be the girl!’ It ends up being a search for herself in which the artist tells herself that she can no longer be the person she once was: “there is a space that I thought I knew, but now I know that I can’t be the girl that I once knew, although I thought I could.”
The beautiful progression of the recording gives rise to a fun video that consists of a pillow fight, in addition to containing its symbology. The apple in the film’s title is the protagonist.
