Haute & Freddy may be your favorite band of 2026

Haute & Freddy’s debut album will be released on March 13. ‘Big Disgrace’ will include the 7 singles that this Los Angeles duo has released to date, highlighting such charismatic songs as ‘Anti-Superstar’ or ‘Scantily Clad’, which they conceived as a celebration of queer love and genres whatever they may be. The electropop ‘Freaks’ serves to define them and their fans, for the better: “All the pretty boys are freaks” is a chorus that Lady Gaga could have created.

The project by Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp therefore links with Chappell Roan for its theatricality and also with precedents such as Scissor Sisters and the Goldfrapp of ‘Supernature’. They have a legion of fans who have already sold out of pre-orders for their first signed red vinyl, and refer to them as “Royal Court.”

Also pay attention to how they defined their style and their live performance in Paper Magazine because it is worth it:

«Everything has a very clandestine fair style from the 18th century. The fans are like our Royal Court and we are their humble jesters. We have a problem with buying antiques, because we love flea markets and vintage objects. We’re drawn to vintage synths, dusty drum machines, and anything that sounds like it’s always existed, not something cobbled together. Live, we have a balloon artist making crowns for our “Royal Court.” There’s a performer on stilts, fake mustaches and feather boas adorning the tables for anyone who wants to dress up. “We just have the most fun and create a world where everyone can be themselves, loud and proud.”

The new single from Haute & Freddy, which you have been able to enjoy this weekend on our Ready for the Weekend playlist, is ‘Dance the Pain Away’. It’s our Song of the Day today. In it, the duo continues to resort to those old synthesizers that are very clearly related to people like The Human League, while Michelle Buzz’s voice is closer to the charisma of a Florence Welch or Cyndi Lauper, whom the first phrasing is reminiscent of.

For its part, the lyrics are a call to use dance to erase sorrows, as the song’s title reveals in a far from subtle way. The video, which has 100,000 views in 3 days, establishes the aesthetics and philosophy of a band that, with references such as ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’, looks like it will be a great live show.
