‘Aperture’, Harry Styles’ new electronic single, started very strong on global charts. It was top 1 on Spotify’s global chart with 12 million daily streams, but it quickly plummeted to about 4 million per day. The good news is that it has stayed there, and the local figures earn it the official number 1 on the UK weekly chart.
Number 1 has been achieved without tricks or cardboard, that is, without editions on cassette, CD, vinyl or agreements with specific platforms. Of the 70,498 copies shipped, almost 69,000 have been streaming points and almost 2,000 mp3 downloads. Its main competitor, Dave with ‘Raindance’, is far behind with 45,000 copies.
Strangely enough, ‘Aperture’ is only the third number 1 in its own country, after the glam ‘Sign of the Times’ and obviously ‘As It Was’.
If we think about his other singles that have sold 1 million copies within the British Isles alone, we must remember that ‘Watermelon Sugar’ was at number 4, ‘Adore You’ at number 7, ‘Falling’ at number 15, ‘Golden’ at number 26 and ‘Late Night Talking’ at number 2. It should also be noted that ‘Music for a Sushi Restaurant’ was at number 3, although it has not sold 1 million copies, according to the OCC.
Looking for more international results, ‘Aperture’ “opens” in the top 1 in Ireland, in the top 2 in Australia, in the top 7 in Germany, in the top 9 in Norway and in the top 17 in Holland, among other territories. The Spanish and American data will be known at the beginning of next week.
