Goodbye to Lalo Schifrin, author of mythical sound bands

Lalo Schifrin has died this Thursday, June 26 in Los Angeles, very few days after having turned 93. His are some of the most recognizable sound bands in history, to highlight the television series and subsequent cinematographic saga ‘Mission: impossible’. He used to tell that he composed it in a few minutes, when the producer asked for “something exciting.”

Considered one of the great jazz, the Argentine artist, whose real name was Boris Claudio Schifrin, also worked in the scores of ‘Harry el Dirtio’, ‘Tango’ by Carlos Saura, ‘The legend of the indomitable’ and series so mythical at the time as ‘Starsky and Hutch’, among many others.

Schifrin was nominated for an Oscar up to 6 times, both in the soundtrack section and in Best Song (‘The Competition’ lost against the main theme of ‘Fame’ in the 80s), finally obtaining the honorary Oscar in 2018. Clint Eastwood delivered it.

After discovering jazz in his adolescence, the artist traveled to Paris with only 20 years and then settled in New York in the late 50s. Those years he rubbed deceased.
