Godspeed You! Black Emperor, already only in Bandcamp

This summer can be remembered because several Underground artists have decided to start withdrawing their Spotify music. Among them, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Xiu Xiu and Deerhof. All of them citing the investments of his CEO Daniel EK in artificial intelligence drones for war.

The last group that has decided to leave Spotify is Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The post-rock veteran, who titled his latest album with the death toll in the Gaza Strip at the time of edition, has disappeared this weekend of the platform. In their case, in addition, they have also retired their music from the rest of the platforms, such as Tidal or Apple Music.

At the time of writing this news, there is only one Godspeed song on Spotify and only two albums in Apple Music, the first two. We guess that they will be erased, like the others, in the next few hours.

There is no statement by the group, although all its followers can intuit the reasons for their decision. From now on, the music of the collective can only be heard in Bandcamp, where it is still available.

Bandcamp has been defended by many musicians such as the platform that makes them sell more vinyl and CDs directly, and makes them generate more income, with less intermediaries. Somehow, which establishes more direct links between artist and public. Of course, Godspeed You! Black Emperor has not informed about the reasons for their choice.
