Gara Durán, between Musgraves and McVie, in ‘My Crazy Cowboy’

You know Gara Durán for collaborative hits like ‘El lago de mi pena’ with Barry B, for his own songs like ‘Kryptonite’ – from his EP last year – and even for what he usually writes for other artists. Now it’s time to face what will finally be his first real full-length album, which he will publish with Universal.

The first single and our Song of the Day today is the catchy ‘Mi loco cowboy’. Far from its darkest moments, and with a certain air of the happiest neo-country of Kacey Musgraves and a tone close to Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac, the song is the perfect letter of introduction for that album that we so want to listen to.

The song, co-written with Barry B, is a love song (“I swore I would never fall in love again / but he’s my crazy cowboy”), a certain comedy (“I look in the rearview mirror and he looks at me out of the corner of his eye”) and a touch of sensuality (“I only look at his Levi’s / they look like they fit him”).

The video explains this relationship under the production of Rubí, with a nod to the literature of Mariana Enríquez.

Gara Durán has an extensive concert tour of venues and festivals pending and will be presenting this and other songs on April 25 at the El Sol venue in Madrid. Before we will see her on the SanSan poster, coincidentally the same day that Barry B performs.
