From good album to great album: alternative order for ‘Virtuzorrismo’ by Nebulossa

When we still haven’t recovered from that hedonistic piano house hit called ‘Vogue’, with which Nebulossa presented their second album ‘Virtuzorrismo’ less than 2 weeks ago, the group presents a new video.

‘Cicatrices’, today our Song of the Day, has been noted in comments on websites and networks, as one of the favorites of its followers. The reasons point to being 3.

First of all, the chorus and the instrumental line of synthesizers are spectacular. Secondly, the song is a sonic remnant of what we found in Nebulossa’s debut, more oriented towards 80s synth-pop. And finally, the song has to do with everything the duo has experienced during their Eurovision journey. They have suffered criticism, they have had a bad time, but “all these scars” we embrace as in therapy because at the end of the day “they talk about ourselves.”

The song is accompanied by a simple video clip with Mery acting as a nurse. Good.

More striking than the video is that we already have about a dozen singles and videos for this ‘Virtuzorrismo’. An album that I have not stopped listening to since its release, but that I have not been able to avoid rearranging in an alternative sequence on Spotify.

The group insisted on opening the album with its 4 unreleased songs, and in the end it does not seem like the best decision, especially due to the diversity of styles. In this alternate sequence – I apologize in advance for the “fansplaining” – we still start with ‘Vogue’, but we quickly move on to their string of biggest hits, which sounded strange halfway through the original sequence. The string could only close or open, and in the end we opted for the latter.

We integrate together the songs that remind us of their original sound (‘Cicatrices’ along with the two singles prior to ‘Zorra’), leaving “the rest” for the final section. It is not without hits: ‘Supersexy’ and ‘Ya no soy la the same’ are among its most listened to songs, and ‘Fantástica’ could perfectly well be, where you can even hear the uncorking of a champagne or a cava as a symbol of the “unapologetic” good taste in the mouth that the album seeks. It would have been an apotheotic ending, although in this case we respect the group’s will to close with the feminist, quasi-balladesque message of ‘For you for me’.

Nebulossa’s extensive tour goes from Madrid to London, from Mexico to Cullera, from Lithuania to Alcalá de Guadaira. Details on their website.
