Christina Aguilera gave a concert tonight at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City that did not leave many fans happy. One of the reasons is the moment in which he supposedly confuses the city with New Mexico, in the United States.
The show has been criticized especially for its length. Attendees claim that Aguilera has performed for less than an hour, about 55 minutes, although others raise the time to 70. One social media user has lamented that he spent “more time waiting in traffic than watching Christina Aguilera sing.”
The setlist has been made up of 16 songs, but attendees maintain that Aguilera has not sung almost any of them in full, something we witnessed in Aguilera’s performance at Mallorca Live 2022; and they criticize that the artist would have resorted excessively to pre-recorded recordings and choruses, reducing her use of live vocals to “33 minutes”, and that she would have spent long minutes off stage changing, only to reappear with “different accessories.”
Furthermore, critics point out that Aguilera would have acted on stage in a somewhat listless way. They also point out that the set design was “skeletal” and did not justify the price of admission, and that the setlist was “the same as eight years ago.”
Aguilera has returned to the road these days and, previously, had performed at a Texas festival that did not generate any controversy. There he dropped that he would release new music “soon,” although it is known that he usually takes his time.
In the last few hours, Aguilera has raised some expectations by updating her social networks with new images, including her profile photos on Spotify. This action has made people think that new music was coming, although it seems that they were simply bringing forward the celebration of these new shows.
