Everything is going wrong, but ‘It could be worse’

Carlangas has recruited Leiva for the first preview of his next album. The Galician artist, former member of Novedades Carminha, has begun to prepare the way for the successor to ‘Carlangas’ and ‘Bailódromo, Vol. 1’ with a comforting rock ‘n’ roll in which Murphy’s Law is the protagonist. ‘It Could Be Worse’ is the Song of the Day.

When you think everything is going wrong, doesn’t it make you feel better to know that everything could be worse? This is the maxim from which Carlangas starts in the verses, in which he describes his misfortunes. From having everything for nothing to considering moving to “absurd places”: “A thousand excuses not to see you, Olympic diploma in self-boycott,” he sings.

Leiva plays along in the second verse, which he keeps completely to himself, with phrases like “I’ll leave everything if you tell me come” or “I ended up here and I don’t even know how.” In the end, he summarizes the song just before entering the chorus, elevated thanks to some hopeful trumpets: “I want to have you by my side always / It was wrong, it could be worse.”

The video clip, directed by Natalia Ferviú, finds a second meaning to the song in the funniest way. Let’s try not to get lost in complaining when something happens that doesn’t suit us, like a horrible haircut. Carlangas, his head and beard full of shaving foam, points to himself as he gives the lesson: “It could be worse.”
