One of their first recordings was the classic single “Double Barrel” by Dave and Ansell Collins, which became a number one hit in the UK. Him and the bassist Robbie Shakespeare formed Sly & Robbie in 1972marking an era in reggae music and collaborating with figures such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Grace Jones. They began recording their own albums as Sly & Robbie, often experimenting with electronic sounds, and achieved success in 1987 with “Boops (Here To Go).” Over time, they incorporated new styles into their work, including pop and dancehall, among others. On the other hand, Robbie Shakespeare died in 2021 at the age of sixty-eight after kidney surgery.
