Doja Cat defines ‘vie’ as a pop and “love” album

A few months ago, we talked about everything we knew about the next album by Doja Cat, titled ‘Vie’. Then we said that a return from the American to pop was very possible, specifically to the Black Pop of the 80s. In a new interview with V Magazine, Doja has confirmed that it will be and that it is happy with it, although some see it as “football for girls and gays.”

At one point in the talk, Doja says he does not intend to pursue success. Rather, he wants to get away from it: «I want to avoid the monster that only wants to succeed. I want to focus more on how the mixture sounds, or if I need these instruments in this part, or if I have to shorten this verse ». It also serves as a way to maintain mental peace if the project does not work: “I don’t want to get angry, but hug it,” he says.

In an exercise of sincerity, he admits that this is a “project taken to pop”: “I know I can make pop music and pop is something that is popular,” he defines. At the same time, it gives their opinion on how some people perceive gender, specifically those who “enjoy it, but do not respect what it is, which is simply music”: “Some do not see it like this, but as a kind of football for girls and gays,” he concludes.

The 29 -year -old artist has also given clues about the themes that the album will deal with, focusing on “love,” “romance” and “sex”: “I think there are many songs about ruptures and how we are fed up with men. There is such a song on this album, but the thing is that there are many different ways of talking about that feeling, ”he says.

We remember that months ago, Doja already advanced the sound of three songs from ‘Vie’: ‘Jealous Type’, ‘Acts of Service’ and ‘Lipstain’. The provisional tracklist of the album collected by Billboard, and that it is possible to suffer changes to the launch, also includes’ Turn The Lights on ‘,’ Slide ‘,’ One More Time ‘,’ Make It Up ‘,’ Kink ‘,’ I Like You ‘,’ Happy ‘,’ Gorgeous’, ‘Couples Therapy’, ‘Come Back’, ‘Cards’,’ Cards’, ‘ ‘All Mine’.
