The case for terrorism against the rapper of Kneecap, Liam Iog or Hannaidh, has been dismissed due to a technical error in the judicial procedure. As explained by the judge, Paul Goldspring, the accusation was presented from the beginning incorrectly, so it has now been qualified as “illegal” and “null.”
“I believe that these procedures did not begin in the correct manner, since they lacked the necessary consent of the DPP (Director of Public Processing) and the Ag (Attorney General) within the legal period of six months,” said the lawyer.
Liam, whose artistic name is Mo Chara, had been accused of promoting terrorism raising a Hezbollah flag during a concert.
Mo Chara has denied the position since the beginning and has described him as a politician. At the exit of the courts, the ruling has celebrated: this process was never about me. It was never about threats to the public. It was never about terrorism. It was always on Gaza, about what happens when you dare to raise your voice. His attempts to silence us have failed because we are right and you are wrong ».
Daniel Lambert, Liam’s lawyer, has also applauded the decision: “We have won. Liam Iog is a free man. We said we would fight them and won. We did it (twice). Kneecap has no charges or convictions in any country, never. Political repression has failed. Kneecap is on the right side of the story. Great Brittany no.”
Michelle O’Neill, Prime Minister of Ireland of the North, has shown her support for Mo Chara, stating that “these charges were part of an attemp oppose injustice in Palestine ».
Kneecap is one of the musical phenomena of the moment out of Ireland, and has just been confirmed in the spring program Sound 2026.
