Death Cab for Cutie have announced that their 11th album, titled ‘I Built You A Tower, will be available on June 5. It will be the band’s return to the independent scene after two decades linked to Atlantic Records. The first preview, ‘Riptides’, is now available on platforms.
According to the band itself, ‘I Built You A Tower’ was produced by John Congleton and recorded in just three weeks between Los Angeles and the band’s different home studios. It describes the project as more “direct” and “organic” than its predecessors, having been inspired by the energy of the ‘Transatlanticism’ and ‘Plans’ commemorative tours.
‘I Built You A Tower’, in this way, includes songs that explore “grief, memory and emotional reconstruction.” The album will also be accompanied by a tour of the United Kingdom and Europe that will begin in September, but will not go through Spain.
