Good old Charlie Puth has a new album ready. ‘Whatever’s Clever!’ It is scheduled for next March 27. If last year he revealed the remarkable ‘Changes’, now he has uploaded the second track of an album that does not yet have a tracklist but which we know will be made up of 12 songs.
‘Beat Yourself Up’ even ups the ante of ‘Changes’ and is our Song of the Day today.
‘Beat Yourself Up’ is a song written and produced by just two people: one is Charlie Puth and the other is BloodPop, known for his work with Grimes, Madonna and Lady Gaga. In this case, we are faced with a funk full of seventies groove: attention to the bass and the wind section, which lead the video clip. The song provokes what the best soul of the time produced, the same thing its title suggests.
Even more chewing gum, Puth tells us about someone who “since he was little, has carried the weight of the world.” The second verse talks about how you feel “at 17” and “you do what you’re told,” while “at 23” you seem to be “what you’ve sold.” Luckily his mother is there to remind him that “some things are worth more than gold.”
We remind you that Charlie Puth will perform in Madrid at the next Mad Cool and also at the Barcelona Barts Festival.
