The adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’ has reached the cinema, being number 1 at the Spanish box office, among others, but leaving mixed reviews. For her part, Charli XCX has overcome the challenge of not making a single song for the film, but an entire album that is a curiosity.
The ‘Wuthering Heights’ album was presented with a collaboration with none other than John Cale and has left different singles such as ‘Chains of Love’, a mid-tempo 100% Charli
But ‘Dying for You’ is the song that we choose today as Song of the Day for its ability to survive outside the film and at the same time adapt to it.
This “I was dying for you” finds passionate images in lyrics full of “blood”, “poison” and a decisive beginning: “ever since I can remember, I have felt, even in my bones, that a tragic destiny awaited me, I didn’t know why, but since I saw you, I realized that I would die for you.”
Such violent lyrics (“you are a gun for my head, the wound in my chest”) corresponds to a fast-paced production, in which the work of the string section stands out. 13 violins, violas and cellos are credited in this song that today sounds like a cousin of ‘Reliquia’ by Rosalía.
