Blood Orange Campestre Grower with Caroline Polachek

Blood Orange has recruited the vozarrones of Caroline Polachek, Daniel Caesar and Tariq al-Sabir for his first song in three years. Written and produced by Dev Hynes himself, ‘The Field’ also has the participation of the legendary The Durutti Column and could be the bucolic advancement of a new album. Charli XCX already announced it at his Coachella concert: “Blood Orange Summer.”

After the launch of the EP ‘Four Songs’ in 2022, Hynes has continued working, but outside the Spotlight. We know that it has produced some songs from the next album by Lorde (‘Virgin’), which has collaborated in several songs from the last Turonstile album (voice and Chelo) and that played the guitar for Nathy Peluso in the song ‘The day I lost my youth’, of ‘Fat’.

Seven years have passed since ‘Negro Swan’, Blood Orange’s last album, so that may be his last step. At the moment, he has decided to launch “a song about breathing deep in the field and the people we miss when we close our eyes.” ‘The Field’ can be the less instant single from the British artist, but with a little patience it also becomes one of the most beautiful.

An acoustic guitar and the ethereal voice of Hynes welcome the subject, until the percussion enters and a clear melody is already discerned. The strings appear along the subject, also by the author’s hand. Caesar enters the chorus, Poachek just after and at the end of the song all the voices are mixed as a final climax: “Cantam me / in the heat of the sun / and cantame / when the day ends,” they sing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytaz0tb9zco
