Bad Gyal hints at a collaboration with Rosalía

Bad Gyal, in Arenal Sound, asks for support for Palestine

Shortly after Rosalia had to go out to give explanations for her silence before Gaza’s genocide, after being pointed out by designer Miguel Adrover, Bad Gyal has taken advantage of her appearance at the Arenal Sound Festival to ask her audience to “not look elsewhere.”

The intervention of Bad Gyal is especially symbolic, since Arenal Sound – in concrete its promoter, The Music Republic – is one of the festivals that are part of Supersruct Entertainment, promoter owned by the Israeli Investment Fund KKR.

Bad Gyal begins her intervention clarifying that she has decided to move forward with her performance in Arenal Sound because “I have not wanted to fail my audience.” Then, it describes as “inhuman what is happening in Palestine” and urges the audience to be informed. “It seems necessary that we are aware that, while we are having a good time here, there are people in Palestine who have been having a very bad time,” says the Catalan, who concludes recognizing “to all the people who are fighting so that this ends up as soon as possible.”

Bad Gyal’s words have caused different reactions, as expected. Although some celebrate their positioning, others point out the apparent contradiction that it takes place at a festival linked to KKR. Others wonder if Bad Gyal would have really spoken of not having been for the situation of Rosalia, since he had not previously.
