Apuestas Opuestos, new band of artists with intellectual disabilities

The group Handsome Oppositesmade up of retired people with intellectual disabilities, was presented last week at a massive press conference at the SGAE headquarters in Madrid.

Last week he presented at the headquarters of the SGAE in Madrid the ska group Handsome Oppositesa musical formation created in 2022 at the day center AFANIAS Open Space and that has the support and coordination of the Carabanchel Cultural District association.

The group is made up of thirteen retired artists with intellectual disabilities, who claim their space, their passion for music and their efforts to improve in such a complicated world. They are joined by three supporting musicians/singers, including Daniel Monterocomposer and creator of the project.

Handsome Opposites has developed its own repertoire that combines original songs and musical adaptations with a certain Jamaican flavor, accompanied by a festive staging that seeks to make the spectators part of the band.

Its members have shown that they are capable of facing any challenge. After recording these songs following the discipline and rigor that a recording studio imposes, the time has come to publish the first song: “Pursue your dreams.” This song is a preview of the upcoming EP, which will be released on April 24 by Kasba Musicand the accompanying video is a collage with images from the recording of the work along with others from the group’s concerts.
