flowerovlove has released their first studio album, which has the great title ‘MINI SKIRT WARRIOR’. The London-based artist, real name Joyce Cisse, has been building a name for herself in the pop world over the last few years with breakthroughs, from ‘BOYS’ to ‘breaking news’, and she doesn’t disappoint with her latest release.
Cisse says that ‘MINI SKIRT WARRIOR’ is about “the first times.” Ironically, many will remember the first time they heard ‘girls will be girls’, the Song of the Day. The flowerovlove and WILLOW collaboration begins as a tender acoustic piece about the shared experience of being a young woman: “Feeling like you’re too much sometimes / Friends say he’s missing out.”
However, with the arrival of the chorus, the song produced by WILLOW, PomPom and the British artist herself becomes an epic pop banger. In his verse, WILLOW describes the woman as a “beautiful and grotesque creature”, from whom emanates both love and a “lethal” touch: “She will be your teacher, the future, she is a leader,” he sings.
‘girls will be girls’ is the focus track of ‘MINI SKIRT WARRIOR’. Its emotional touch, exploring the idea that, although flowerovlove took two years to record this album, it is actually the product of 21 years of life, is also the perfect closing for the album.
