Jungle’s new album has arrived in time to enjoy it during the remainder of the summer. The lead single from the project is titled the same as this one, ‘Sunshine’, and finds the British trio using their quintessential formula after the three previous previews: ‘Carry On’, ‘The Wave’ and ‘Someday, Somewhere’.
‘Sunshine’ is a funk, disco and soul bop in which Lidia Kitto sings about a love that “had to feel like sunlight”, but which she can’t stop loving. Recalling the early The Avalanches in the process, Jungle build a song based on samples that cannot be found in any vinyl store, but in the studio itself.
The ease with which Jungle is able to emulate the use of samples from the 50s and 60s through original recordings has been evident throughout their career and in their latest song there is no exception. Although it seems full of chops and reused melodies, ‘Sunshine’ is a source of originality.
We remember that Jungle will present their new album with two concerts in our country on November 26 and 28, at the Movistar Arena in Madrid and the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, respectively.
