The National will offer a special anniversary concert in Donostia

The American band The National will offer a special concert on October 18 in Donostia. It will be the closing culmination of AB100, a celebration of the Dessner brothers’ fiftieth birthday.

The National will offer a very special concert within the Kursaal Eszena programme. It will be the October 18 in the Kursaal room closing AB100, a weekend full of music, collaborations and artistic exchange to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner, main engines of the American band. Although there will be other special activities.

This performance will feature some of the band’s regular collaborators, but also special guests for the occasion. It will be the group’s first performance since 2024 and the only one they will offer during the remainder of this year.

More than a festival, AB100 is a gathering of artists, friends and collaborators, a weekend built around relationships linked to creativity that have evolved over decades. Conceived around the musical community fostered by Aaron and Bryce Dessner, the event celebrates the spirit of collaboration that has defined much of their career, and brings together musicians, writers and artists whose paths have crossed through friendship, shared projects and mutual inspiration.

The event is held between Donostia and Biarritz, cities where both musicians spend part of their time. And it will offer activities such as the store POPUP Shoppe, Mixtape (in Atabal, Biarritz; October 17) with the participation of artists such as Ben Howard, Kevin Morby, Max Porter, Ragnar Kjartansson and Jon Hopkins –who will offer a final DJ set–; film screening-performance “A Lot Of Sorrow” (October 18, Tabakalera; Donostia); the experimental exhibition “Voices Within” (Tabakalera Donostia, October 18); the concert Song Circle with Anaïs Mitchell, Ben Howard, Kevin Morby and Ye Vagabonds (October 18, Teatro Principal, Donostia); organ recital James McVinnie (October 18, Basilica of Santa María del Coro, Donostia) and Sirens, with Lisa Hannigan & Theodora Byrne Trio (October 18, Teatro Principal, Donostia).
