MJ Lenderman, Kurt Vile and Modest Mouse participate in two new Neil Young cover albums

The Neil Young tribute album series “Heart of Gold” will grow this fall with two new volumes, “Out of the Blue” and “Into the Black”.

The albums will bring together versions of the Canadian musician’s repertoire by artists such as MJ Lenderman, Kurt Vile, Modest Mouse, Lucinda Williams, My Morning Jacket, Ben Gibbard, King Princess or Devendra Banhart, among others. Both will be published on November 6.

The two compilations maintain the charitable nature of the first installment, published last year, and will allocate their profits to Bridge School, the organization founded by Neil Young and Pegi Young to support children and young people with serious physical and speech disabilities.

As a preview, two of the songs included in the project can now be heard: the version of “Helpless” performed by King Princess and the reading of “After the Gold Rush” by Draco Rosa. The rest of the repertoire will include revisions of classics such as “Like a Hurricane”, “Harvest Moon”, “Heart of Gold”, “Cinnamon Girl”, “Tonight’s the Night” or “Rockin’ in the Free World”.

Notable contributions include MJ Lenderman with “Separate Ways”, Kurt Vile and The Violators reinterpreting “When Your Lonely Heart Breaks” and Modest Mouse, accompanied by Califone, taking over “Barstool Blues”. The first installment of “Heart of Gold” Last year it featured artists such as Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten and Courtney Barnett.
