SIENNA is a Valencian singer and songwriter who has released three albums and has built a sound that aligns him with some of the most popular proposals in Spanish indie-rock, such as Vetusta Morla, Viva Sweden or the guitar-heavy Alizzz. The strength of his songs and a very marked vocal personality make him an artist with the potential to make an important leap at any time.
Dedicated to great emotions, his music combines guitars and synthesizers with an interpretation full of character. This formula has led songs like ‘Epico y mortal’ to reach nearly 5 million views on Spotify, while ‘Esto no es el cielo’ was part of the soundtrack of the recent adaptation of Physics or Chemistry.
Since 2017 he has published the albums ‘Trágico y fugaz’, ‘Tiempos de Impacto’ and ‘Trance’. Now he is expanding his discography with ‘LINCE’, a new work that he will present on a tour of different Spanish cities between November and February of next year, plus those that remain to be confirmed. Tickets are on sale.
On this album, SIENNA incorporates new electronic textures, as demonstrated by the synth-pop cut ‘X los Centuries de los Centuries’, without giving up the guitars that have always defined their proposal. In fact, ‘Afilado’, their latest single, is probably the most direct and immediate song on the album.
If in ‘Loco’ he opts for a more intimate tone and in ‘Garra’ he embraces a more distorted production, ‘Afilado’ is closer to the latter. It is a vibrant indie-rock composition that refers to bands like Placebo and makes emotional intensity its main driving force. The voice appears deliberately in the foreground so that each phrase comes through with complete clarity.
The song addresses the need to protect oneself from those who use their own wounds as an excuse to justify the harm they cause to others. More than a song about confrontation, ‘Afilado’ vindicates the importance of setting limits and preserving one’s own emotional balance. In SIENNA’s own words: «SHARPER talks about protecting yourself, anticipating, being alert. “No one should be vigilant, but sometimes you can’t let other people’s wounds be projected onto you.”
