Julia Garner and Mark Foster separate after 6 years of marriage

Julia Garner and Mark Foster have ended their marriage after more than six years together, according to a source cited by People. The ‘Ozark’ actress and the leader of Foster the People met at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, began their relationship years later after contacting each other through Instagram and married in 2019 in a discreet ceremony at New York City Hall.

The separation coincides with a great professional moment for Julia Garner, who in recent years has strengthened her relationship with Madonna. The actress was chosen to play the singer in the biopic that was finally shelved and, this year, she appeared in the video for ‘Bring Your Love’, the lead single from ‘Confessions II’, playing the young Madonna.

For his part, Mark Foster continues to lead Foster the People, the band responsible for hits like ‘Pumped Up Kicks’, ‘Houdini’, ‘Sit Next to Me’, ‘Imagination’ and ‘Coming of Age’, as well as gems like ‘Nevermind’. During his wedding to Garner, the musician surprised him by performing an unreleased composition, ‘Lovers in a Stream’, written expressly for the couple’s first dance.

Although some fans have linked songs from ‘Paradise State of Mind’ to Garner, Foster has never confirmed that they are autobiographical. The album includes songs about new stages like ‘Chasing Low Vibrations’, others about desire like ‘Feed Me’ and declarations of love like ‘The Holy Shangri-La’ (“Oh, my love / We’ll be together”). In general, Foster has preferred to keep his lyrics on a more universal than confessional basis.
