About to perform at the Low Festival 2026 in Torrevieja, where it is among the jewels of the lineup that we most recommend, we take the opportunity to recover Joseluis’ latest single, ‘Hazte asi’.
‘Hazte Así’ is one of the best songs of Joseluis’s career, and that’s saying a lot after listening to ‘For Now Forever’. At the very least, and not to get too far ahead of ourselves, we must agree with Joseluis himself when he claims that it is the “most beautiful” song he has ever written.
Written “from beginning to end on January 5” and recorded in a single vocal take, ‘Hazte Así’ revolves around the idea that “love has many forms.” His lyrics do not lend themselves to easy interpretation, but are deliberately elliptical and abstract.
Placing us in an everyday setting, Joseluis sings that he would lend his eyes and ears to another person. When he mentions a “beeping in the background”, he responds with a distorted guitar riff and then seems to allude to the dawn after a night of partying with a play on words around the verb “aspire”, which refers to both ambition and its more literal meaning.
In this poetic journey, we would swear that about a friendship, Joseluis concludes that there are a few things he would change about that person, but that “he would leave the rest.” Musically, ‘Hazte Así’ is a mid-tempo American rock that draws on Wilco-type influences to convey a deep sense of peace and calm. There remains a beautiful chorus, which seems to want to repeat itself ad infinitum.
