Álvaro Brechner, winner of the Goya Award for “The Twelve Years’ Night” (18) and internationally recognized by titles such as “Mr. Kaplan” either “Bad day for fishing”directs “Pagan Festival”a film produced by Eterno Island Pictures, inspired by the extraordinary story of Mägo de Oz, the band that triumphed in Spanish rock by fusing heavy metal with Celtic folk and whose songs have accompanied millions of people for more than three decades both in our country and in Latin America.
After completing thirteen weeks of filming between Madrid, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, the first trailer allows us to discover the visual, emotional and musical universe of “Pagan Festival”a story about artistic creation, friendship, success, conflicts and the price of pursuing a dream that ended up becoming a generational phenomenon.
The cast is headed by Adrián Lastra, who takes on the role of Txus di Fellatio, founder and drummer of the band, and Adrià Mondaray, who has transformed into José Andrëa, the vocalist whose talent marked the golden era of the band. Roberto Álamo, Antonio Dechent, Jorge López, Carlos Librado, Guillermo Furiase, Luis Bondia, José Sospedra, Jon Arias, Marc Parejo and the Mexican Michelle Renaud also appear.
This biopic is produced by Patricia González for Eterno Island Pictures, with Pedro Díaz ‘Peri’ (former bassist of the band) as executive producer. The technical team brings together professionals such as Nazareth Rodríguez Ruiz (Production Management); Raquel Troyano (Production Design), David Cortázar (Direction of Photography), Nacho Ruiz Capillas, Ángel Pazos and Álvaro Brechner (Editing), Marcos Salso (Direct Sound), Marta Fenollar (Costume Design), Blanca Otamendi (Makeup and Hairstyling) and Iván López (VFX Supervisor) who, together with Laura Canals, won the Goya 2025 for Best Special Effects for their work in the movie “The 47”. The original soundtrack is composed by Jose Cuesta.
