This is the case of Paycheque, a new synthpop duo formed by Allison Goldfarb (not Alison Goldfrapp) of Geranium and Jackson MacIntosh of TOPS and Drugdealer who want to take you to the dark side.
Their music is reminiscent of the time when proposals from people like Nite Jewel, Tennis or Class Actress filled the blogs with hope, and hope is all about it, because the group has only six singles released and no studio album. Their official self-titled debut is released in two days.
Although Paycheque’s proposal, which includes titles that evoke the glamor of the 80s such as ‘Camouflage’, leans towards noir synths and a certain underground sensitivity in the production, referring to the aesthetics of the bands of the legendary Italians Do It Better, such as Chromatics or Glass Candy.
