Fontaines DC have shared an emotional message on Instagram following the death of their manager Trevor Dietz, a key figure since the beginning of their career and whom they consider “the sixth member of the band.” Dietz became their manager in 2016 and three years later the band released their celebrated debut ‘Dogrel’ (2019).
The Irish group has been “totally devastated” by the death that occurred last Sunday, June 7: “Trevor was with us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines DC without him, the sixth member of the group.” They have also described him as someone deeply committed and brave: “He cared about us and what was right in the world, we will always miss him.”
Dietz was a fundamental figure in the group’s first steps in Dublin: when the members were still students, he gave them their first live opportunities, scheduling them on several occasions at the famous Dublin concert hall The Workman’s Club, where they began to build their career before becoming an internationally recognized band.
