The “butterflies” of Icona Pop, from “the waist down”

Icona Pop release a new album called ‘Ritual’ with 10 songs on August 14. At the moment they have been teasing songs like the title track with Daya – a strange track between the spiritual and the spatial – and ‘Dance to This’.

Less sophisticated and crushing than this one, but more effective, the third single sounds very determined and is our Song of the Day today. ‘Butterfly Feelings’ avoids comparisons with their hit ‘I Love It’ to really opt for a synth-pop cousin of some Eurythmics base.

Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo show that they can continue to create “butterflies” in the stomach as in their cooler times. In this song they say that, despite what they “lie to themselves,” they continue to desire that person. It doesn’t matter if they deny it. The song becomes especially sexy when he repeats, very specifically: “I love you from the waist down, let’s go to my house.” Although it is impossible to match old hits, Icona Pop continue to deliver cool songs.
