Taylor Swift, in addition to finalizing the details of her wedding, apparently for next July 3, has new music. The singer has just released the main theme from the ‘Toy Story 5’ soundtrack.
The film opens in theaters on June 19, but it is this Friday, June 5, when the song that Taylor wrote, called ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, is published.
‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ marks Taylor Swift’s return to country after her pop journey of more than a decade. Accompanied by her great ally, Jack Antonoff, Swift builds a happy song about meeting someone again after a long time, which makes sense for ‘Toy Story 5’ but also for her return to her American roots.
The instrumental palette of ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ includes harmonicas and banjos, as well as acoustic and electric guitars, and the melody is happy and comforting. Musically, Taylor does not propose a radical evolution of her roots, but it is a natural one.
The best news is that Swift does not sneak in a b-side, but rather a fairly solid song, with a face and eyes, which will probably serve the singer as a bet for the Oscars. Without being one of his strongest singles, it makes perfect sense in his career, and seen within the context of ‘Toy Story 5’ – a children’s film – it is better than expected.
The singer has written on Instagram that she is very excited about this topic: “I have always dreamed of writing for these characters that I have always adored since I was a 5-year-old girl and saw the first ‘Toy Story’ movie. I immediately fell in love with ‘Toy Story 5’ and was lucky enough to know it from the dawn of its creation. I wrote the song as soon as I got home from watching the movie. “Sometimes you just know.”
