After four years of waiting, Los Punsetes announce their return with ‘Una persona triste’, the first single from a new album produced with Paco Loco. The press release defines the song as “a tragically calm full stop to a career of relentless cynicism and mordacity” and speaks of “the flight forward of someone defeated by life.”
The lyrics portray a character trapped between resignation and everyday failure, while the band deploys one of those trademark unpredictable developments, between surf organs and sharp thrash metal riffs that “pile up in a snowball.”
The chorus is automatically one of the best of his career. “There is a path that leads to a very powerful slope” and then the repetition of “and it is evident that you are made of waste / made of waste” build a song with the makings of an instant anthem… like Carolina Durante’s best choruses. A comparison that makes sense now that Diego Ibáñez’s band is once again opening for Los Punsetes, closing the circle: Carolina Durante began precisely by opening for them.
