Subtitled Festival of Latin American Music and Culture To Resist in the City, the fourth edition of The Kumbiambawhich is being held this week in Barcelona.
La Kumbiamba celebrates its fourth edition in Barcelona with four days dedicated exclusively to cumbia. It will be celebrated throughout the June 4 to 7 at La Farinera del Clot (Barcelona)with the participation of both international and local names.
As headliners we are going to meet prominent names on the international scene such as Kumbia Boruka and Chicha Dubnext to the selector Andy Gray from Radio Gladys Palmeraplus a good handful of emerging local talent from names like The Subtropical Fiber, Caldo Parao and Os Vigilantes.
The main headliners will be, as we said, the Monterrey band Kumbia Boruka, led by Hernán Cortés and with albums like “Life is lived”, “The Remedy” either “Holy Luck”.
The programming will start on Thursday the 4th with the recording of a video podcast together with FesCultura, a project dedicated to the dissemination and reflection on independent cultural initiatives. From there, we will immerse ourselves in a kind of parallel universe in which cumbia will take over the city of Barcelona to make it dance without rest. The closing of La Kumbiamba will be on Sunday, June 7, with a special day organized together with Green Light and that will feature a long list of local DJs who will keep us in tune for twelve hours.
With this new edition, La Kumbiamba reaffirms its identity as a space of cultural resistance and collective celebration, where cumbia is not only heard, but lived. The festival is organized by La Kumbiamba with the support of the La Farinera del Clot Cultural Center and the support of Fes! and Radio Gladys Palmera. You can get tickets at this same link,
