Bad Bunny has successfully finished his two dates in Barcelona, before facing the ten dates he has in the capital. However, the most viral thing about the Puerto Rican’s passage through the city has been the horrible experience of a user with the VIP ticket to the concert, even more viral than Ibai Llanos’ “Acho, PR is something else.”
Jordi Ferrández’s first video telling about the situation he experienced with the VIP ticket during the first day, right next to Bad Bunny’s house, currently exceeds 10 million views. A large part of the controversy caused is due to the price of these tickets, located between 500 and 600 euros, with some people seeing it as paying to not be able to breathe.
It should be noted that, in a later video, the attendant explains that there was no “VIP area” as such that was separate from the track that is accessed by general admission, but rather it consisted of a VIP package that included early access to be in the front row. At least, you could enter the venue three hours early: “We thought that by literally paying more than double the general admission price we would be able to enjoy the concert.”
“I can’t move, I can’t dance, I can’t do anything,” the user denounces in the first clip. Although this is the only video of complaints derived from the concert, or at least the only one that has gone viral, you can see how little space there is to be a VIP area. Anyone can imagine how hot it would be in there. The strongest videos are the ones he uploaded later, in which he shows how the security team tries to remove him from the premises, with obvious nervousness.
“I’m going to jump, let them throw me and that’s it,” Jordi tells the camera, while a security person repeats that he cannot cross the barrier, which faces directly onto the plot of the house: “I’m getting something here,” the assistant says. So, the solution they propose is to “open the hallway”, that is, try to separate the rest of the people from the barrier so that he and his partner can leave.
“But don’t you see that he’s going to give him something?” says someone from the VIP when he sees that they don’t let him go over the barrier. The security guard, clearly agitated, responds: “Let’s go, fuck it, man” while pushing the rest of the people to make room. The most surreal moment in the video comes when a person refuses to move for fear of losing their place (“I paid for something”). When Jordi tells him that he wants to leave, his response is the last thing you expect at a moment like this: “Well, get out now!”
“In the end, we were able to leave but it was an odyssey, and the organization did not act well,” says the fan in an Instagram statement. Regarding the intervention of the security team, it gives more details in a previous publication: “They should have helped us from minute one, they didn’t have any protocol or anything, they didn’t know what to do and we couldn’t breathe,” he concludes.
Live Nation has responded to the criticism expressed in these videos: «The area in question was not above its capacity and complies with the established conditions, being certified by a responsible engineer. In this case, the person had purchased an Early Entry package, which allows earlier access to the venue and priority entry. However, as specified in the conditions of the pack, this is also a general admission and not a reserved location. It is true that the areas closest to the front row may experience a greater feeling of pressure due to the concentration of attendees, something common at high-demand concerts. In any case, the space has supervision and control at all times by the security team, whose priority is to guarantee the well-being and safety of the attendees.
