Halsey will star and co-write “Pleasure”a horror film that her fiancé and actor will direct, Avan Jogia.
The artist Halsey dives even deeper into horror cinema. The singer and actress will be the protagonist and co-author of “Pleasure”a “psychosexual horror” film directed by his partner, Avan Jogia.
The film follows Proxya troubled DJ played by Halseywho ends up stranded in Montreal and becomes involved with an enigmatic underground radio collective. The story, as told, becomes increasingly disturbing when a strange signal coming from the subway tunnels begins to distort the station’s broadcasts and, potentially, the minds of its listeners.
This project represents a new high-level creative collaboration between Halsey and Avan Jogiawho announced their engagement in 2024 after having made their relationship public the previous year. Jogia, known for works such as “Victorious” and “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City”debuted as a film director in 2023 with “DoorMouse”.
In the case of Halseythis will be his most relevant role so far in front of the camera, after his appearances in “American” (2023) and “MaXXXine” (2024). In addition, the artist will make a European tour during the summerwhich will start on June 13 in the Czech Republic.
“Pleasure” will have solid support in the genre, since Lilly Wachowskimember of the creative duo behind “The Matrix”serves as executive producer through Anarchists United. “The script of Ava and Halsey “is a surreal, dizzying immersion in a tense mix of horror, thriller and comedy, set in the grime and gritty realism of a rarely shown Montreal subculture,” declares Wachowski.
