Fugazi release the unreleased sessions recorded with Steve Albini

Fugazi have released the unreleased sessions they recorded with Steve Albini for a new charity album from the organization Letters Charity. You can listen to it or buy it digitally on Bandcamp.

The American band has announced the release of the unreleased sessions of “In On The Kill Taker” that they recorded with the deceased Steve Albini in 1992. At that time, Albini was in charge of mixing and engineering the session, but both he and the band were not happy with the result. Thus, Fugazi re-recorded all the songs with Ted Niceleywhich ended up forming the album in 1993.

Now, it has been the band itself that has announced the publication of these sessions for a good cause. All proceeds will go to the charity Letters Charitywhich Albini founded with his wife, Heather Whinna, to help Chicago families in poverty. The entire album, which is titled “Albini Sessions (Benefit for Letters Charity)” is available for purchase at 10 dollars on Bandcampalthough you can listen to “Facet Squared” and “Smallpox Champion” for free.

Fugazi was a post-hardcore band formed in 1986 and in which they were active. Ian MacKaye, Guy Picciotto, Joe Lally, Brendan Canty and Colin Sears. As to Steve Albini, producer and founder of the Electrical Audio studio, as well as a member of bands such as Shellac or Big Blackdied in 2024 due to a heart attack.
